We meet at the Taj Mahal’s east gate before sunrise, watch the marble change colour as the light comes up, then walk through the old Tajganj quarter — the Mughal-era artisan neighbourhood that grew up around the monument’s construction.

The route is paced for photography and conversation rather than ticking off sights. Your guide is a licensed local Agra specialist, the same person from start to finish, with deep knowledge of the architecture, the love story behind the building, and the daily rhythms of the families still living and working in Tajganj.

Why a walking tour rather than the standard car-based tour?
If you’re already staying in Agra (rather than coming from Delhi for the day), the car-based logistics don’t make sense — you’d just be driving from your hotel to the Taj gate. The walking tour is for guests who want the same expert guide without the unnecessary vehicle.
What if I'm not staying within walking distance?
We add a one-way hotel pickup for ~$10. The Taj east gate is near most Tajganj hotels (within 5-10 minutes’ walk); guests at Agra Cantt area hotels need the pickup.
Can children join?
Yes — the route is flat and the walking distance is modest. Children under 15 are free at the Taj. Bring stroller-friendly shoes for the gardens.
How does this compare to the Same Day Agra Tour by Car?
The car-based tour covers Taj + Agra Fort + Baby Taj from Delhi or within Agra. This walking tour focuses purely on the Taj at sunrise and the surrounding old quarter — narrower scope, deeper engagement with one place. Is Friday tour available?
No — the Taj is closed Fridays. We offer a substitute walking route through the Agra Fort plus Baby Taj instead, by arrangement.
